I am Kirsten McKinnon.
I built Career Freedom HQ because I know this territory from the inside.
I spent three years away from my career caring for my family, after my partner experienced a severe traumatic brain injury and my daughter nearly lost her life due to a medical misdiagnosis. I spent four months inside adult and children's intensive care units and more than two and a half years in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
When I returned to the workforce, I brought with me strong experience and exceptional references.
I discovered how it feels to be invisible to a system that was never designed for the complexity of a real woman's real life.
That experience did not defeat me.
It forged everything I now bring to this work.
I raised three children on my own. I built my own practice. I researched the hiring system from every angle. I worked alongside women navigating the same thresholds and I watched what happened when someone finally stood beside them and said:
I see you. I believe in you. Let's build this together.
After watching adults and children fight for their lives in ICU, one truth became impossible to ignore:
Life is precious. And you deserve to feel fully alive in your work.
